Program Description
Event Details
Readers of all ages are invited to create their own Blackout Poetry using discarded book pages at Centerville Branch Library on June 12, 2023, 6:30-7:30pm!
Whether you have never tried Blackout Poetry, never written a poem, or never touched poetry with a 10-foot pole, you are welcome to join us and experiment with words. We'll provide instructions and lots of examples.
Blackout Poetry, also known as Found Poetry, is an example of the poetic technique of "erasure." Erasure means picking out words from a written text and getting rid of (or "blacking out") all the extra words to create a brand new story or poem!
Book pages and markers will be provided. Limited quantities available.
